Importance Of Website

by Tem Balanco

The internet is known as very powerful tool that allows the facilitation of networking, business and education to name a few; because of this, having a website has become a trend that allows many users of the internet to reinforce their position within such environment. In its simplest form, a website is a collective term for web pages, videos, images and other digital assets that are combined in a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), that consist of one domain name in an internet protocol based network. A website is usually hosted by a single web server that can be accessed through the internet or a private local area network. Today, many businesses, educational facilities and even individuals make a website in order to facilitate their activities over the internet.

The importance of a site rely on the reasons why a person or a business wanted to utilize it. Yet, whatever reasons that might be, having a website can provide several benefits for a person or for an organization. For example, if you have your own business, a website can simply allow your target audience to find you easily over the internet, and can profoundly help you in advertising your products or services. Similarly, it is also a tool that can assist you in informing, communicating, and providing support to other people.

Perhaps by now you have the desire to make a website for your business or personal portfolio but cannot move forward because you feel that it might be too hard to accomplish. Creating a website is not as hard as it actually looks. In fact, you can make it yourself, or if you're afraid to try you can always hire a web developer to finish the job for you. Still, if you intend to use such site for personal purposes, you can start looking for online tutorials to get a jumpstart of the things you need to know.

The first step you could take to develop your website is to plan; this step includes listing the domain name of your intended site, the hosting site you are going to use and knowing your target audience. By the time you are already through with this, you can start designing your website. You can either get a website building program if you do not have a keen eye for design ability and you intend to use the site for personal purposes; learn a programming language (HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript) and start everything from scratch; or use a free static site generator. Most of these options can be purchased or sometimes comes free online.

In order for your website to rank well in search engines, use strong keywords in your site so that whenever your audience type such keywords, your site will immediately come on the top of the search engine page; however, try minimizing the use of these keywords on a certain level as over doing it can affect the quality of the contents of your website. Soon after, upload your web site on the web host of your choice. After uploading your website, test drive your website; a usability testing can help you identify the areas within your site that needs improvement and clarifications. Likewise, submit your website on major search engines, use an email address with your domain name, or post constructively on forums and blogs with your URL in your signature to generate more traffic.

With the abovementioned steps, you can now make a website for your business or your personal portfolio. These are just some of the basics of site building that you can use as a reference. When you finally decided to develop your own website, always remember the needs of your target audience. This way, you would be able to come up with a site that is a win-win situation for you and your website visitors.

When you want to make a website you have to consider not only your taste but also the preference of your target audience. A website should cater to their specific needs in order for you to generate more traffic over the internet. Always go for a website design that could be easily understood by people and it must contain helpful information so that people will know what you intend to offer them.
